An enquiry about how paper straws are made can ask for two different things: the documented specification of the straw to be supplied, and a description of the production process behind it. For our range, the manufacturer's published documentation answers the first in detail and the second not at all. What is documented — in the manufacturer's own product listings and category material — is the material, the adhesive, the types and format families, two sizes, a full set of order figures for the core families, and the factory setting the straws come from, including more than sixty automatic straw lines in the Yiwu plant. What is not documented is a step-by-step process account, and this guide does not invent one: where the record ends, the page says so.
The Documented Material
The manufacturer's category material states the material plainly: the straws are made from food-grade paper, and the glue used to bind the paper is non-toxic and food-safe. The manufacturer's own comparison material adds the grade: food-grade wood-pulp paper, bound with that non-toxic, food-safe adhesive. The same category material describes the finished paper straw as biodegradable, compostable and recyclable, and the comparison material records that paper straws can be printed with patterns using food-grade inks. Those four items — paper grade, adhesive, end-of-life description and ink — are the complete material record published for this range, and they are the material facts stated across this site, from the paper straw range page to the family pages.
The Documented Types and Families
The manufacturer's own category listing documents the paper straw types as plain, coloured and patterned drinking straws, paper-wrapped straws, custom (logo) straws and flexible paper straws. The catalogue listings name the families behind those types, and the documented names include the following: the Logo Customize 100% Biodegradable Paper Straws with Paper Wrap; the High Quality Degradable Cocktail Paper Straws; the Kraft Paper Sharp Straw Milkshake Straws; the Hot Sale Disposable Striped Design Paper Drinking Straw; and the New Product Ideas 2021 Drinking Straws listing. Beyond the drinking families, the catalogue documents the Biodegradable Sharp End Bubble Tea Paper Straws, the Sharp Bubble Tea Drinking Straw (JY1715) and the Individual Wrapped Bubble Tea Drinking Straws (JY1716); the Bag Packed Spoon Drinking Straw (JY-1104) and the Neon Multiple-Color Spoon Drinking Straw (JY002); and the Straight Straws (Individual Wrapped, Logo Printed) listing. Each family carries its own page on this site, and each page states only what the documentation records for that family.
The Documented Sizes
Two sizes are documented in the manufacturer's listings. The standard drinking format is 6 x 197 mm, recorded on the shared parameter block of the core families listed above. A second format, 5 x 210 mm, is documented on the New Product Ideas 2021 drinking straw listing. No other diameter or length is published in the documentation for the bubble tea, flexible or spoon families; for those families, size is confirmed per specification in the quotation, as the sizes guide sets out family by family.
The Documented Order Figures
The core families named above share one documented parameter block in the manufacturer's listings, and it is the commercial frame quoted across this site: a minimum order of 30,000 bags, delivery 20 to 25 days after the deposit is received, a stated production capacity of 5,000,000 pieces per day on those listings, shipment through Ningbo port, and payment of 30% deposit with the balance before loading, by T/T, L/C or Western Union. Two further documented figures sit outside that block: the Straight Straws (Individual Wrapped, Logo Printed) listing is documented from 200 boxes, and the PLA listing discussed in paper straws vs PLA straws carries a catalogue price band starting at 200,000 bags, which is a listing tier rather than a minimum order. Families without a documented parameter set — bubble tea, flexible and spoon among them — carry no borrowed figures on this site: their minimum order and lead time are confirmed per specification in the written quotation.
What the Documentation Does Not Publish
The manufacturer's published documentation does not include a process description for the paper straw: it records no winding method, no mandrel or core tooling, no ply count, no adhesive application method or thickness, no cutting method, no drying or curing step, and no statement of the stage at which printing takes place. This guide therefore describes none of those things, and the same boundary is kept on the family pages and in do paper straws get soggy. A buyer whose own audit requires process information beyond the documented record should request it from the factory with the enquiry; what can be stated publicly is the documented specification — material, adhesive, types, sizes and order figures — exactly as the manufacturer's listings record it.
Material Figures From the Comparison
The manufacturer's published comparison of paper and PLA straws records two further figures for the finished paper straw. The documented service temperature range for the paper straw material is -10°C to 90°C, stated as a material parameter. A discarded paper straw is documented to degrade naturally in about three to four months, and the same comparison gives the paper straw a shelf life of roughly one to two years. Those figures are stated here as published; the comparison publishes no in-drink working-life figure for the straw, and none is added on this site.
The Factory Setting
The straws come from the manufacturer's plant in Shangxi, Yiwu: a factory of about 15,000 square metres with more than 400 staff, more than sixty fully automatic straw lines, and workshops that are fully sealed, air-conditioned and cleaned, including a 100,000-class clean workshop with ultraviolet disinfection. The company's documented management and product systems include ISO 9001, ISO 14001, GMPC, FSC, FDA, LFGB, CE and SGS references; certificates are available upon request, so a buyer can verify the current document set for the family being ordered. Export orders are handled by the export department under Mr. Richard, General Manager, Export Department, through Ningbo port on FOB, CFR, CIF and EXW terms.
Specifying an Order
An enquiry that gets an accurate first quotation states the family, the size where one is documented, the wrap and print requirements, the quantity and the destination port. Start from the format map on the paper straw range page, use the sizes guide for the documented size record, and read paper straws vs PLA straws for the second material's figures before choosing. Where the documentation publishes no figure for your format, the written quotation is the document that fixes it.
